Hormuz Is the Wild Card: 5 Crypto Coins to Watch If Oil Prices Collapse After the Iran War

  • Strait of Hormuz developments could influence oil prices and broader market risk.
  • A sharp oil decline could ease pressure on inflation-sensitive assets.
  • ARB, APT, SEI, WLD, and PEPE may warrant attention under that scenario.

The Strait of Hormuz has returned to the center of global financial markets as geopolitical risks continue to affect oil trading. U.S. President Donald Trump said oil prices could fall sharply if the United States wins the war with Iran. At the same time, traffic through the strategic waterway has reportedly slowed following Iran’s retaliation threat. WTI crude was approaching $93, while Brent crude was nearing $97, keeping energy prices under close observation. However, Iran has also indicated that a shipping arrangement with Oman is nearly finalized.

Such an agreement could reduce uncertainty around maritime traffic and potentially improve market conditions. If shipping activity through Hormuz becomes more stable, a decline in geopolitical risk could place downward pressure on oil prices. Lower energy costs could also affect inflation expectations, interest-rate forecasts, and investor demand for risk assets. Crypto markets could therefore respond to changes in the broader macroeconomic environment rather than the oil market alone. Under that scenario, several altcoins could attract attention as traders assess whether improved conditions support renewed risk appetite.

Arbitrum Could Benefit From Improved Risk Sentiment

Arbitrum (ARB) remains one of the closely followed Ethereum layer-2 networks. A broader shift toward risk assets could increase interest in scaling networks and decentralized applications. Its performance would still depend on network activity, liquidity, and wider market conditions.

Aptos Faces a Similar Macro Setup

Aptos (APT) could also remain sensitive to changes in market liquidity. Lower energy prices may reduce inflation concerns if the decline proves sustained. That could support expectations for easier financial conditions, although crypto-specific factors would remain important.

Sei Could React to Higher Trading Activity

Sei (SEI) is focused on blockchain infrastructure for trading-related applications. A stronger appetite for digital assets could increase activity across trading networks. Its potential response would likely depend on volume, liquidity, and broader sentiment.

Worldcoin Remains Tied to Wider Crypto Risk

Worldcoin (WLD) could also be affected by a change in investor positioning. If capital begins moving toward higher-risk digital assets, tokens connected to emerging blockchain ecosystems could receive greater market attention.

Pepe Represents the Meme Sector

Pepe (PEPE) provides exposure to the highly volatile meme-coin segment. If crypto sentiment improves after a decline in oil-related uncertainty, speculative assets could experience increased trading activity. However, meme coins generally remain more sensitive to market sentiment than fundamental developments.

Oil Could Set the Tone for Risk Assets

The next phase of the Hormuz situation could therefore influence more than energy markets. If shipping conditions improve and oil prices retreat, inflation expectations could change across major economies. That could create a different backdrop for cryptocurrencies and other risk-sensitive assets.

Still, the relationship would not be automatic. Geopolitical developments, monetary policy, liquidity, and crypto-specific news would continue influencing prices. For ARB, APT, SEI, WLD, and PEPE, the key issue would be whether improving conditions translate into sustained demand for digital assets. For now, the Strait of Hormuz remains an important variable. Any confirmed progress involving shipping could quickly alter expectations for oil prices and broader financial markets.

AI Stocks Struggle to Rebound: Lacking Three Major Supports, July’s Rally Hard to Replicate

JPMorgan pointed out that due to the absence of ETF bargain-hunting funds, limited room for short covering, and the early termination of the $40 billion buyback by Samsung and SK Hynix, the rebound strength of AI stocks in October may not match that of July. The resurgence of leverage risk could intensify volatility.
