Alaska Energy Metals achieves 97.2% nickel extraction in Nikolai project tests
Bitget2026/11/06 12:01- Alaska Energy Metals reported high metal extraction rates November 6, 2026, from hydrometallurgical testing at its Nikolai nickel project in Alaska.
- Pressure oxidation extracted 97.2% of nickel, 99.3% of copper and 98.9% of cobalt from Eureka deposit concentrate.
- Additional flotation testing raised nickel recovery to 54.3% and copper recovery to 57.4%, although concentrate grades declined.
- The lower-grade concentrate will undergo further hydrometallurgical testing to determine whether similarly high extraction rates are achievable.
- On-site refining could improve metal payability and eliminate concentrate shipments to smelters, but would require higher capital spending.
